canadian dental health plan

The Canadian Dental Care Program is a government initiative that aims to help make the cost of essential dental care affordable to eligible Canadian residents. It has been a huge success since its release, with millions of Canadians benefiting from the program, and more to follow. In 2025, the CDCP is supposed to launch its expansion plan, aiming to include all of the remaining eligible Canadian residents.

Canadian Dental Care Plan News

The full expansion plan is set for sometime in 2025, with an undistinguished date. The full expansion plan will open applications to the remaining eligible Canadian residents! Since this incredible program has been released, the total number of approved Canadian applicants is 3,100,000, with a total number of approved applicants who received care exceeding 1,300,000 Canadians. The government of Canada website released this data as of December 31, 2024.

CDCP Eligibility Age

As of January 2025, the application was open for only the following Canadian residents:

  • Seniors aged 65 and over
  • Children under the age of 18

The aim of the new expansion plan for 2025 is to ensure that all remaining eligible Canadians, regardless of age, will have full access to this aid for dental services. It’s incredible how many more Canadians will be eligible and will receive dental care.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan

he Canadian Dental Care Plan is a program aimed to help provide financial assistance to eligible Canadian residents for dental care services. The purpose of this program was to not only help with the financial burden of dental care services but to ultimately boost the overall health of Canadians.

The program was first designed to help families who don’t have access to private dental insurance. It covers a list of different dental services, with varying ranges of coverage depending on the adjusted family net income of the applicants. Please refer to canada.ca for accurate information regarding this plan, and take advantage of it if you are eligible.

What does CDCP Cover?

It works on a co-payment structure based on your adjusted family net income. To explore the co-payments section further, visit canada.ca/CDCP-services-covered. Examples of which type of dental services can be covered with the CDCP include:

  • Orthodontic Services
