When is CDCP Open to Everyone?

Since the release of this program back in December 2023, the final expansion phase is approaching. As of May 2025, all remaining eligible Canadians aged 18 to 64 who meet the eligibility requirements can apply for CDCP. The CDCP was introduced gradually to varying age groups to ensure the demand and priorities of patients were properly managed. How to Apply for CDCP

Applying for the Canadian Dental Care program is a straightforward process, here is how to get started:

  1. Eligibility Requirements : to qualify for CDCP, you must not have access to dental insurance, have an adjusted family net income below $90,000, be a Canadian resident for tax purposes, and have filed tax returns in Canada (for assessment of family income for previous year)
  2. Apply Online: Applications for CDCP are accepted through the official Canadian government website portal link: canada.ca/CDCP/apply.
  3. Sun Life Welcome Package: Once approved, you will receive a package from Sun Life containing your member ID, a summary of covered benefits, and a coverage start date.
  4. Book Dental Appointment: After your coverage start date, you can book a dental appointment with dental offices that provide CDCP. It is important to wait until your plan is active to get full coverage for services.

What Does CDCP Cover?
